A visit to Purity in February 2017
During our trip to Kenya to join the MasterPeaceWalk in February 2017, we met Purity, one of the young Maasai women supported by StandUp4Talent.
Purity came to meet us with her future husband Francis. They proudly declared that they had the opportunity to choose one another, which is still unusual in traditional Maasai culture. Normally, the parents of the girl seek a suitable husband for their daughter. Both of them were powerful in their statement: we will marry in a few years after finishing our studies.
Purity is studying, with support from StandUp4Talent, at Kenyatta University Nairobi, Bachelor of Education, Early Childhood Studies.
After graduating, she wants to return to the Maasai community to teach young girls and women, and prepare them for further education.
She is highly motivated to be meaningful to the Maasai community in this way, and is very convincing about this.
During our conversation with Purity (and Francis, who joined us during the whole visit) she emphasized that her parents support her and are very pleased that she is following this study. Due to lack of money in the family she still is the only one of her siblings who has the opportunity to study.
Purity is very happy she got the chance to study thanks to the support of StandUp4Talent. She is very grateful to all the people who support her in this. She works very hard and is highly motivated to get good results.
She has promised to send us an email regularly to inform us how she is doing and what results she achieves. We like getting to know her a little better this way.
It was very nice to meet Purity face-to-face. A young, powerful and confident woman who wants to work with heart and soul for the Maasai community.
We are proud we can help her to fulfill her goals in life, with the fantastic support of our sponsors.
